The Swedish government has tasked the Swedish Agency for Work Environment Expertise with developing and disseminating knowledge about safety culture in the construction industry aiming to prevent accidents.

The construction industry records the highest number of fatal accidents. In 2023, the number of fatal accidents increased by 12 compared to the previous year, continuing a slow upward trend in recent years. A report from the Swedish Work Environment Authority (2017) highlighted knowledge gaps in research on safety in the construction sector. This underscores the need for further insights into the factors influencing safety and working conditions.
