Mandate and ordinance

We are a state agency tasked with creating favourable conditions for a healthy, happy, and sustainable working life by serving as a national knowledge centre for work environment issues. You can read about our mandate and letter of appropriation from the government here.

The Swedish Riksdag and government determine the direction and purpose of our activities. Our government mandate is set out in a separate ordinance (2018:254) and in an annual letter of appropriation specifying the requirements of the mandate in terms of what we are to accomplish in a fiscal year.
