Swedish Agency for Work Environment Expertise- our mission

Established on June 1st 2018, Swedish Agency for Work Environment Expertise (SAWEE) is a government agency under the Ministry of Labor and Employment. We collect knowledge of what constitutes a good work environment and how that correlates with employee-health, company productivity, profitability and attractive workplaces. Our operations are guided by governmental directives and an annual letter of appropriation.

On behalf of the government, we have the task to:

  • collect, compile and spread existing research-based knowledge about work and the work-environment
  • evaluate and analyse the effects of implemented reforms and government initiatives
  • help to identify and address knowledge gaps and development areas

We also have the task to:

  • monitor and promote the development of knowledge nationally and internationally
  • monitor and encourage the development of occupational health organisations.

We work with several counsels to ensure that what we do is firmly established with our stakeholders. The counsels are built according to the tripartite model and have different special areas as occupational health care, quality and knowledge. We are also engaged in several international cooperations.
